Here is a good idea forwarded to us by email:
For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn’t pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered…in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States”.Each person contact a minimum of twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
Then in three days, all people in The United States of America will have the Message. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.
DAMM STRAIGHT !!! IT’S ONLY ABOUT TIME CONGRESS AND ALL THE OTHERS ON THE HILL BE TREATED LIKE THE REST OF US.
I fully support this constitutional amendment!
While I believe in and support it, who and where are the organizers, that we may lend a hand? I have googled and searched, but have not found an organization, a web page, or anything that will allow us to work to achieve this worthy endeavor.
Our wise forefathers inserted two ways into the workings of the Constitution that it may be amended. The first is by a majority vote in BOTH houses of Congress. Let’s get real, folks, Congress is NEVER going to vote for such an amendment.
The second is by the people lobbying their state legislators to pass such an amendment at the state level. Fully 3/4 of the states (or 38 states) must ratify the measure in order for it to become law. It is not going to happen because we all just think it’s a great idea.
The last time such an attempt was made was with the ERA amendment. The campaign was costly, because it was done through media campaigns, mail, and meetings. Now we have the internet, and media blitzes can be done through email campaigns, endorsements from big names such as Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh (if they would consider lending their support), etc. But I find no website dedicated to the cause, only emails that come with little information as to how this will be accomplished.
Talking is great, but it is a dream until action is taken.
This request is the same as requiring cops to use seat belts as dictated by law. It won’t happen. They will come up with some story as to why they need some type of exemption.
If you want to win your battles then don’t vote for the donkey or the elephant.
I’d like to remove the right to vote from the uneducated because their vote is based on pure salesmanship and offers zero benefit to all issues discussed.
And since I’m on a rant, healthcare reform isn’t about controlling insurance, it’s about controlling outrageous bills from hospitals and doctors. I recently had to pay $2000.00 for 10 stitches on my lip – 40 minute procedure. I just found out a co-worker goes to his vet (yes! VET) and pays $150.00 and his work looks better than mine. How come the pet-health industry doesn’t have this type of trouble?
I’m just asking.
Thanks and bless America because we are headed into some serious trouble because we can no longer be truthful about our wants versus needs. Enjoy that new car that just lost $4000 in value as you drove it off the lot – real smart purchase, or your $2000 computer that you only use for internet and youtube, or your 20th pair of shoes, or your diabetes/heart disease that will soon follow from your constant #5′s with extra large fries and extra large coke with as much calories as your burger.
I’m trying to get into med school, so I’ll see you on your death bed asking for help when you could have helped yourself so many times before – in so many ways.
Oh and don’t worry, I won’t be charging $2000 for stitches. I probably won’t be practicing in America. What hospital will allow me to do my work at a huge discount? I thought doctors became doctors to help people. And for those of you out there thinking money is the root of all evil, it’s not. Money is like a weapon, it does nothing until it is handled by someone. Our greed is the root of all evil. And it doesn’t take an economics degree from Berkeley to figure that out (yep, from economics to medicine).
Go ahead and digest that with your #5 with extra large fries and extra large coke.
Thanks for reading.
