Community Radio Bill passes house – action needed to help it pass the Senate

The House of Representatives passed the Local Community Radio Act Wednesday!

It’s been a long time coming. In 10 years of trying, we’ve never come this close to making better local radio a reality. The bill could not have come this far without your letters, phone calls, e-mails and stories.

But the bill is only a bill until the Senate votes, too. And that could happen as early as Friday. That’s why we need you to call your senators today: Jon Tester 202-224-2644,    Max Baucus 202-224-2651, (800) 332-6106

Demand for local radio has united urban and rural communities, musicians and emergency responders, preachers and farmworkers, people from across the political spectrum. That we have finally made it through the House is a testament to the incredible work of so many people.

If we can keep the momentum up, we could be celebrating the new year with a major victory for people-powered, community media.
