After all the hype, compromise, corruption and political weaseling, “health care reform” is looking like a cardboard cutout of meaningless legislation. The stocks of the major insurance companies that provide health insurance are soaring. The outlook for the American public is bleak. But wait - at the last minute real health care reform is at least going to be discussed:
In a historic turn of events, single-payer health care will finally be heard by the Senate. Late yesterday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced that Senators Sanders, Brown and Burris Amendment No. 2837 is on the schedule for a hearing today in the Senate. This is historic! Single-payer health care has long been the system that many in this country support. So many times, excitement and anticipation have been replaced by disappointment because the issue never reaches the floor for debate. Not this time!
Single-payer combines the best in ideology and practicality–public financing and private delivery–put together in one commonsense plan for all. It is a plan that each side of the aisle can embrace without compromising principle.
It took a host of phone calls to Senat0r Reid to insist that the Sanders , Brown and Burris Amendment get its hearing and vote. Now is the time to call Senator Reid and thank him for finally bringing this matter to the floor. Call Senator Reid NOW.
