Our Privacy Rights are Under Attack
We need you to take action!
Dear Susan,
Today the Senate Judiciary Committee heard Senator Dan McGee’s (R- Laurel) SB 46, which amends the Montana Constitution, eliminating privacy protections that have been in place in Montana for nearly 40 years.
This amendment would authorize governmental intrusion into every pregnancy and undermine private medical decisions made between a woman and her doctor. We should be very careful when considering amending this vital protection against intrusive and unwarranted government intervention in our state constitution.
Act now! Contact your senator today.
Besides attempting to ban abortion, SB 46 ignores the complex medical decision-making process for women with high-risk pregnancies. Medical decisions related to pregnancy often must be done quickly and under terrific stress. We don’t need legislators in the doctor’s office as women make decisions about delivery and care during pregnancy.
Additionally access to emergency contraception, in vitro fertilization and birth control will all be jeopardized by this amendment.
Let’s not forget, this amendment will do nothing to prevent unintended pregnancies in Montana or support women who carry a pregnancy to term.
Please join us in contacting your Senator to let him/her know Montanans do not support divisive attacks on women’s right to privacy!
Thanks for your ongoing support.
