This is Rep. Rick Jore and the Constitution Party’s vision for the future of Montana.

This Halloween Rep. Rick Jore, anti-choice crusader and Constitution Party Representative from Ronan, filed a constitutional amendment to declare that “life begins at conception.” He ran a similar bill in the 2007 Montana Legislature which was narrowly defeated by a vote of 45-53 in the House of Representatives.

We need your help!

We are pulling together a strong coalition of organizations and individuals who will stand up for the values you and I hold dear.  But we cannot defeat this amendment alone.  We’re going to need supporters like you from every corner of Montana to ensure this campaign to take away women’s rights and endanger our health is soundly defeated.

Undertaking a campaign of this size and scope is going to take time, energy, people and financial resources.  I hope you invest in our field campaign to defeat this dangerous and extreme ballot initiative with a contribution of $15, $25, $50 or $100 today.

Since Montana’s constitution contains greater protections for medical privacy and a woman’s right to choose than the U.S. Constitution, anti-choice forces know it is the major roadblock standing in their way.  That is why they have initiated the most aggressive attack possible against it.

This amendment could be used to not only lead to a ban on abortion but also on birth control, stem-cell research, and in-vitro fertilization.  Rep. Jore stated on the floor of the Montana House that he even intended this amendment to be used to investigate women who miscarry for what they may have done to harm the pregnancy!  This kind of extremist ideology has no place in our state constitution.

NARAL Pro-Choice Montana is poised to mobilize thousands of pro-choice Montanans to defeat this measure and to elect candidates that believe women have the intelligence and the thoughtfulness to make decisions about reproductive health and the course of their lives.
